Portuguese forward Pizzi scored through a beautiful strike to give struggling Deportivo La Coruña an impressive win over 4th place Malaga. The game was Portuguese manager Domingos Paciência’s first in charge of the Spanish club.

Ze Castro, Bruno Gama and Andre Santos were also on the field to start the match. While Portuguese international Nelson Oliveira came on as a substitute in the 68th minute. The win was only the club’s third of the season in La Liga and elevated them from the bottom of the table as they hope to avoid relegation.

Pizzi, whose rights are owned by Atlético Madrid has been one of the best young players in La Liga so far this year. He scored through a brilliant free kick in an October 20th match against Barcelona for the Galician club.

His performances were noticed by Portugal manager Paulo Bento. After sitting on the bench for a few World Cup qualifying matches, he earned his first cap with the Selecção in a November 14th friendly against Gabon, scoring his first international goal through a penalty.
