Portuguese daily Diário de Notícias is reporting that right-back Miguel Lopes has agreed on personal terms that will see the Portugal international leave Porto for Sporting Lisbon. Russian midfielder Marat Izmailov is expected to go the other way in a straight swap.

Lopes will earn a reported 5.5 million over five years to play for the Leões. As part of the complex deal, both clubs will own half of each player’s rights to assure that both will benefit from the future sale of Lopes and Izmailov.

Lopes is reunited with Sporting Lisbon’s general manager Jesualdo Ferreira, who was his manager for a short period during his time at Porto. It is possible that the deal will open the door for more negotiations between the two clubs.

The Portuguese international’s good performances while on loan at Sporting Braga last year earned him a call-up to Paulo Bento’s squad for Euro 2012. So, far this year with Porto, his playing time has been dramatically reduced. Lopes is best known for his strong defensive play and could play on both the left and the right. He has amassed 4 caps so far with Portugal.
