Benfica have locked up a big part of their future, agreeing on contract extensions with midfielder André Gomes and defender Roderick Miranda. Both deals expire in 2019, and include a transfer clause of 30 Million Euros, the club confirmed Friday.

19-year-old Gomes’ impressive form with Benfica’s B Squad in the Liga De Honra earned him some first team action with Jorge Jesus’ senior squad this season. He is widely seen as one of Portugal’s most promising young players.

Gomes told BenficaTV that he is proud to be at the club and spoke about his success this season. “It has all happened very quickly but it has been great. Everyone has helped.”

“It has been great having the opportunity to share experiences with players at the highest level,” Gomes added. “I want to continue to work hard and improve my performances.”

While, 21-year-old Miranda has just returned to the club after a short and unsuccessful loan spell with Spanish club Deportivo La Coruña. He formed an excellent partnership with Olhanense’s Nuno Reis at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia for Portugal.
