Sporting Lisbon and Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patricio may be on his way to Arsenal this summer. According to sources in England and Spain, Arsene Wenger is keen to sign the Portuguese international to a permanent deal.

Unconfirmed reports in Spain this week had Sporting rejecting a £8.4m (10 million Euros) bid for Patricio. Wenger is looking to replace Wojciech Szczęsny whose sometimes erratic displays this season has led him to being benched in recent matches in favour of Łukasz Fabiański.

It is also believed that Sporting are looking for a deal closer to the 15 million Euro range. Patricio has been one of the few bright spots for his Sporting Lisbon side this year. At 25-years-old, Patricio has received 21 caps internationally and is firmly established as Portugal’s first-choice goalkeeper.
