TRANSFER WINDOW: Portuguese Defender Bruno Alves Officially Joins Fenerbahçe

Turkish club Fenerbahçe have formally announced that they have signed Bruno Alves to a new three-year contract. In an official statement, the Turkish club confirmed that they will pay Zenit St. Petersburg a transfer fee of €5.5 million for Alves’ services.

The Portuguese international joined the Russian club from FC Porto in 2010 in a deal worth €22million. In his time in Russia, Alves played 100 matches with the club, scoring three goals. He won two Russian league titles, plus one Russian Super Cup.

The 31-year-old joins Portuguese international teammate Raul Meireles who just completed his first season with the club. Alves has received 63 caps with Portugal, scoring 8 goals. He is primarily known for his set pieces and strength in the air.
